Professora Pavão

Jessica Carla de Lima-Moran AKA “Pavão,” has been a Capoeirista for 14 years, training and teaching under world-renowned Capoeira master, Mestre Boneco of Capoeira Brasil Los Angeles (CBLA). With her husband and teaching partner, Professor Chegado, Professora Pavão teaches at the CBLA headquarters in the Mid-City area of Los Angeles, at XTC Training Center and Highland Park Recreation both in Northeast Los Angeles.  Pavão and Chegado also teach at Santa Rosa Charter Academy where they have developed a detailed Capoeira Movement and Music curriculum for the 7th and 8th graders.  In addition, both run a Free Community Capoeira Program where youth and families in Northeast LA can train Capoeira free of charge.

When not teaching and performing with Capoeira Brasil, she produces the group's annual International Capoeira Festival, works as the communications and special events director, and travels extensively teaching and training the art of Capoeira throughout the world.  Pavão is also co-editor of the Capoeira Brasil international newsletter and writes extensvely about the history, origins, and development of the art.

Beyond Capoeira, Pavão has also worked as Regional Coordinator for Los Angeles Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa's nationally recognized Summer Night Lights program, a project of the Gang Reduction Youth Development (GRYD) office and has helped produced countless private events and fundraisers for both Capoeira and corporate clients.

Professora Pavão has a Bachelor of Arts in English from the University of California at Berkeley.  She received her Capoeira professorship and was awarded her purple cord under Mestre Boneco in October 2012.
